THE COMPLEX SCIENTIFIC AND RESTORARION INVESTIGATIONS OF THE ST.MICHAEL’S GOLD-DOMED CATHEDRAL
Abstract
In article were described in details the scientific and restoration investigationsbefore beginning of the projecting work for re-birth of St.Michael’s Gold-domed Cathedral. The St.Michael Gold-Domed Cathedralwas destroyed in the World War II. Were described the main results of complex investigations, specific using of old building materials and technologies.
St. Michael’s Gold-domed Monastery is one of the most outstanding architectonic and Art complexes, which always was of great importance in formation of Kyiv image. Founded in 1108, by grandson of the Yaroslav the Wise the Kyivan Prince Svjatopolk in “patrimonial” St.Demetrius’s Monastery. The cathedral has been dedicated to the warrior of heaven, Saint Michael the Archangel, the protector of Kyiv.
