ADDITIONAL GROUNDWATER REPLENISHMENT IN BIG UKRAINIAN CITIES ON EXAMPLE KHARKIV CITY
Abstract
Paper treats the issue concerned with additional groundwater replenishment in the big cities of Ukraine. There are no uniform criteria of flooding areas estimation and additional groundwater replenishment quantitative assessment in Ukraine. The technogenic losses from underground communications are the value sourse of additional groundwater replenishment in the big cities. The watersupply values and losses are decreased via the reduction of production capacity at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. At the beginning of the 21 st century the Kharkiv city is growing rapidly and built up without appropriate messures to prevent flooding. Therefore, the flooding process in Kharkiv continues to be in progress.Keywords: groundwater, additional groundwater replenishment, flooding
